Our Story.
In late 2022, Mollie and Mary-Morgan decided to continue the business their larger-than-life father, Mack, had started. They soon realized he had a tendency to think small—small business, small town, small profit margin (LOL)—but knew the BBQ sauce is too damn good to stay small.
Mack lived for connection. He enjoyed setting up in local businesses, or at hometown festivals, personally preparing the perfect sample of his amazing pork loin with just the right amount of BBQ sauce. If you had a wholesale account, he hand-delivered cases to your establishment. He loved when folks were excited to see him—and folks really were, legitimately excited to see him. It was virtually impossible to not have your day brightened by his jovial presence. He knew that about himself and enjoyed every bit of the attention.
It was important to Mollie and Mary-Morgan that his warmth and spirit were represented and that any changes made were done so thoughtfully. They grew the business from fewer than 15 local wholesale accounts to over 30 local + national wholesale accounts, an online store, and a yearly spot at Poplar Head Farmers Market. While they aren’t the extroverts their father was, they strive to maintain the authenticity of Mack’s personality + the integrity of Mack’s BBQ sauce.
What about before 2022? Mack competed in cooking competitions, spear-headed community fundraisers, and eventually perfected the BBQ sauce he created to accompany all the delectable meat he was smoking.
In the summer of 2021, Mack decided to take his sauce to the next level + go commercial! He stayed with us long enough to see 2 batches of his sauce made and available in stores.
